Working Weekend 7-8 March
I hope you are all looking forwards to the Working Weekend on the 7th and 8th of March. I'd like to hear about the little things that used to annoy you about The Belfry before you got used to them and stopped noticing them.
No promises but I'm hopeful we can get some of them on the working weekend list.
Saturday 6th June Summer BBQ + Try Caving Day
Put this in your diary. The BEC Summber BBQ will be on the 6th June. We will also be looking to run a try caving day to attract new members.
July 11-12th Home meet weekendSupport Priddy Folk Festival
Another one for your diary. We are moving the July home meet weekend to conincide with Priddy Folk Festival.
Support the MCR running the bar and shake your leg on the village green. Apart from tent access it is an open festival.

Fifty years after their first visits to Swildon's Hole in Somerset, Michael Perryman follows Nick Thorne on a trip to Sump 2, via the Zig-Zags, the Short Dry Way, Barnes' Loop, and Sump 1, then returning up the Inclined Rift, and exiting via the Wet Way.
BCA Membership
Many of you will have recieved a "BCA Membership Reminder". If you get your BCA thru the BEC then everything is taken care of.
The BCA would like to remind you that it is not licensed to sell insurance, they provide it as one of many perks of membership.
As well as the insurance, BCA funding benefits cavers across the country in many ways, including funding p-bolts in caves and mines, funding conservation projects, supporting projects to encourage youth and student caving, helping raise the profile of caving at a national level and helping fund the British Caving library etc.
Whats new this month
New officers now in post: Jo White formally begins as Secretary; Rachel Thompson (Publicity & Student Liaison) and Russel Myers (Safeguarding) have started their roles.
Poole’s Cavern update: New cave survey required and two BCRA field trips planned for 2026 (student workshop and archaeology group).
International update confirmed: The UN karst ecosystem resolution has been withdrawn, with a revised proposal planned for 2027.
Science Symposium dates clarified: Provisional date set for 10 October 2026, with a possible move to 17 October.
